Not all work and no play

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. So here’s some of what I do when I’m not working or dabbling with technology.

Rugby

This is a good time to be living in Christchurch, New Zealand. I may not support the Crusaders rugby franchise, but I’m going to enjoy going along to watch some big matches in the new stadium.

The view from my season pass seat at Te Kaha stadium on the first night of Super Rugby played there.

ANZAC weekend 2026 saw Christchurch host a “Super Round” where every match was played in the same venue, so I also went along to see the Highlanders vs Moana Pasifika.

I had a lovely smoked brisket and cheese pie, but I didn’t get a picture of that.

Walks in the park

The weather hasn’t been too cold yet, so I like to get out for a wander around Hagley Park while I catch up on some podcast episodes.

Watching Race Cars

SuperCars came to compete at Ruapuna in 2026, so I went along to check it out.

I didn’t watch much of the racing, but had a good look around.

Quizzing

Once or twice a week I like to head along to one of the local quizzes.
